Myrtum is a privately held firm, dedicated to reducing barriers to entry for small businesses in the global economy, that share our values of integrity, intelligence and trust, by providing them business technology coaching. Our vision is to be recognized internationally, as the premier agency caring for small businesses.
Now you may have noticed that we deliberately used the word “coaching” instead of “consulting”. Well, what is difference between coaching and consulting? Simply put, a consultant will show you how to do something. Let’s say for example you’re interested in fishing and you buy some fishing equipment. Now on the day of your fishing trip, you realize that its much tougher than you thought; the fishing rod keeps slipping, you are not able to get the proper footing, your don’t know how to “cast” the line and so on. You bring in a consultant to tell you the mechanics to leverage gravity, your natural strength, how to use the equipment and even exercise routines to build your grip and balance; in essence, “how to fish”. Once the consultant has finished explaining to you the “how to”, his job is done. You on the other hand, are on your own to turn his theories into your personal practice.
In contrast to the consultant, a “Coach” will stay with you. A coach will not only give you the “how to” explanations but will also help you find and use the best equipment available. More importantly, the coach will partner with you in a commitment towards your success. That’s what we do.
We’ll not only teach you how to fish, but we’ll stay with you to listen, understand and help you continually improve on your successes, for years to come. We will ask: Who are you as a business? Where do you want your business to go? What do you want the future of your business to look like? What can we do together today, to best support you in reaching your business goals? As your business technology coach, we will help you take more, better and smarter steps toward your business dreams.
You may also be wondering about our values of Intelligence, Integrity, and Trust.
Intelligence
Let’s face it; in a world that’s becoming globally competitive, you as a small business can’t afford to partner with anyone but the very best in experience and expertise. Myrtum brings through its founders, decades of combined practical experience, professional training and industry-specific expertise, spanning a broad spectrum of business technologies. Its members have serviced industry giants such as Bear Stearns, Computer Associates, Viacom, Princess Cruise Lines, Six Flags, Mandalay Bay, UCLA, and so on. All of these companies are leaders for a reason; they hire the best and brightest. As our small business partner, you have the extraordinary opportunity to immediately leverage the same treasure trove of intelligence, without needing a Wall Street type bank account!
Integrity
Integrity is an interesting word. It can mean two different things; both of which we look for in qualifying businesses for partnership with Myrtum.
One, it means the state or quality of being entire or complete; wholeness; entireness. We’ve collectively found through experience, that the individuals with whom we work best are not necessarily those for whom the whole aim of life is monetary success. We value those partners who are well-rounded, have work-life balance and who generally are working to benefit not only themselves, but others as well (be it family, friends, etc).
The second definition of integrity is moral soundness; honesty; freedom from corrupting influence or motive. We feel that with the emergence of a global economy, it’s important now more than ever, that every new business presence created, is a kernel of goodness which future generations can reap.
Trust
We specifically value your role as a small business; so much so that we include “small business” in both our vision and mission statement! We know that as our small business partner, every promise made to you and every dollar you spend, count.
That is why we are adamant that Myrtum be your Coach and not a consultant; why we look for Partners and not for clients in the traditional sense. It goes without saying that with this unique model, there must be exceptional trust in the relationship.
When we look to define trust, we also have to examine closely another word; namely, power. Trust refers to willing acceptance of one person's power to affect another. By power, we mean the real or perceived ability or potential to bring about significant change, usually in people’s lives through the actions of others.
As experienced experts with a strong vision and uncompromising values, we know that our words and actions can bring very real, positive and significant changes. Every engagement is our privilege, as our business partners become at once, both trusting and trusted.
Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree. Isaiah 55:13
